Smartphones

Smartphones are a part of our lives and is most used gadget by almost everyone these days. With these phones becoming smaller and more functional, everyone seems to love it. For most of us, it is the first thing we use in the morning and last thing at night. In this world of smartphone, we will try to list five commonly used functions in smartphones and five more functions that we wish to have:
Smartphones are a bad deal – let's hope laptops don't go the same ...
5 functions commonly used
  1. Camera
With easily available cameras in phones of lower budget aswell, almost everyone having a smartphone use this feature. It is so popular that some of us might have used it more than we actually use to call our closed ones.
2.             GPS navigation
Whether it be for commuting or it be for visiting new places GPS navigation is used nowadays. WIth two most popular maps Google maps and apple maps, there is probably any place that these these maps can not recognize. This has been possible with community contribution and is one of the most used features.
3.             Mails
It used to be a time where we had to wait up to days to get a reply in our emails. With the introduction of smartphones which is in our hand always, individuals are notified in a matter of seconds about the new email. It hasn’t just made the communication faster but a lot easier as well.
4.             Phone contact list
A generation ago, everyone used to have a phonebook with list of handwritten contacts. They even remember the details of contact they be in touch frequently. For the rest of else they had to look up everytime they need to contact. And if they loose it, would be a nightmare to collect all those again. With the introduction of smartphones we can now store as many contacts as we want and is used extensively.
5.             Portable music system
Music has been a part of our lives since a very long time whether it be during happy times or at sad times. WIth transistors getting smaller, phones having greater storage along with readily available music managing apps, music players have been so popular.
5 functions in wish list
1.    Long battery life
If you're paying good money, it would be ideal to have at least two days worth of battery life. A battery that is always running low is pretty frustrating. Wouldn't it be great to not have to worry about when we'll be able to charge our phones next? It doesn't necessarily need a very high mAh, it just needs to be effectively optimized to the system.

2.             Fast wireless charging
While we're on the subject of batteries, it makes sense to talk about wireless charging. These are fast, practical and easy-to-use. The possibility to charge them quickly would be perfect for those situations where you need to leave the house, but you've only just realized you have a low battery.

3.             Biometry
We carry a good part of our social life in our phones. I'm not just talking about Facebook and WhatsApp, I'm talking about passwords, documents, private conversations and other things that we would not want to fall into the wrong hands. So, biometric unlocking methods should be a priority for all smartphone manufacturers, even for cheaper phones.

4.             Protection against water and dirt
The cost of smartphones is getting higher and higher. In my opinion, any phone above $200 should have this kind of protection. It's inevitable that they will be exposed to dirt and liquids at some point. The current technology for this is pretty expensive, and makes the device thicker and heavier, but the technology will of course eventually be perfected and become cheaper and easier to implement.
5.             Mobile payment support
This is still not a widely used technology, and it hasn't quite caught on yet with either companies or users. However, it won't be too long before this payment method becomes a way for you to pay for your everyday items. For this reason, it would be great if smartphones were already using both the NFC chip and the technology that allows the different types of mobile payments, as many people will still be using the same smartphones in a few years, when this payment method will become the norm.

Low cost Innovation in developing country

Developimng a new idea is not an easy job to do and particularly when it needs to be innovative. Innovation doesn't always mean it should be high tech with advanced features, sometimes it can be to reduce effort as well as be cost saving. In this modern era where everyone is focusing to develop a innovative product a few seem to be concerned with the developing countries and the amount those resident can afford. In this scenario we are presenting a few innovative technologies targeting such countries:
1) Reusing water
REUSE OF RECLAIMED WATER IN SPAIN - Bioazul
Water related problem is one of the major problems that exists in almost every developing countries with considerable number of citizens not accessible to proper drinking water. This technology would make an effort to minimize the water wastage and ultimately help in solving the water related issues. Currenlty all the water used once goes to drain no matter what it was used for. The proposal is to make a reservoir to store used from from few things such as washing grocerry, shower taken or even washing grocerry with a bit of filtration. Obviously the filtration wont be ebough to make the water drinkable, however it can be used to water plants or even to flush human wastes.

2) Mobile App for farming
Most of the developing countries are based in farming, not in a large scale but in a small scale just for themselves. A lot of people live in country side and most of them cultivate food for themself. They are farmer by birth, however are not well trained and most of them lack idea of modern farming. They have very less to no idea about quality seeds, suitable temperatures, instecides and other basic knowledge needed for farming. In this case having a mobile app that can provide them a basic knowledge what is the best time for what crop, places for good seeds, frequency and amount of insecides to be used would obvioulsy have increased productivity and help in solving starvation.

3) Bicycle that generates electricity
In developed countries it may not sound good, however in case of developing countries where basic electricity even for light is an issue could be a game changer. It would benefit individuals from being fit, on the other hand the generated energy could be stored in battery. One hour of workout will be more than enough to power a light bulb for about 8 hours. So, campaings such as workout an hour to light a night can be launched.
4) Improved wood fire stove
Woods are still a major source for cooking in most of the developing countries. They are easily available in forest and even if they have to pay are much more cheaper than LPG gas. Being cheaper is a good thing, however they have adverse effect in health as it emits toxic gas including carbonmonoxide. These gas particularly affect respiratory systems and results in diseases such as asthma costing much more to health system. So, even though the use of wood seems cheaper, it is ultimately costly if we relate that to health.

So, using a improved stove that uses woods, but directs those harmful gases to chimney rather than just having it open would save cost and lives.

5) Portable water filter
A major portions of people in developing countries are still deprived of clean drinking water. They drink water directly from open sources such as ponds. These water are not just unclean but carry harmful bacteria causing diseases such as cholera. Having a portable filter that act as a pipe and can filter small amount of water at a time enough for a person could help eradicate the problem.

All these innovations are targeted to solve an existing problem rather than improving a solution. Since, the focus is on developing countries, we proposed on solving the problem that exist in there.
